Bond Street
2024, New York
Inspired by the abundant natural light and the dynamic culture of Bond Street, the apartment combines European and Scandinavian design influences with a vibrant and cheerful color palette.
Key project objectives included blending modern European designs by Paola Lenti, B&B Italia, and Bocci into an inviting and timeless environment and collaborating with local artisans from upstate New York and Brooklyn to execute custom furnishings, ceramic light fixtures and millwork.
To create a textured layering effect without using graphics and patterns, a range of luxurious fabrics and textures were carefully chosen for the furnishings. These included mohairs, tweeds, chenilles, linens, and boucles sourced from renowned suppliers such as Dedar, Pierre Frey, and De Le Cuona. These fabrics were used to cover custom upholstered pillows, sofas, and ottomans, including the iconic Sofa 190 from Pierre Augustin Rose. A Poliform sectional upholstered in luxurious Dedar mohair sits atop a custom silk rug, encircling a bespoke a set of Benoit Viaene limestone top tables with carved wood bases.
The combination of these subtle textures aimed to evoke a feeling of calm and establish a soft, plush oasis in the heart of New York City. Beaudry Collier successfully navigated the challenge of designing a spatial layout within the expansive, open, and irregular floor plan, ensuring distinct areas for entertaining, dining, and a lounge, despite the absence of dividing walls.
A bespoke dining table was custom designed to harmonize with the angles of the wall, converging gracefully at the built-in window seat that commands a view of the renowned Bond and Lafayette intersection.
Moving from the private corridor into the living spaces, we collaborated with Paola Lenti to create a five-piece custom rug that oscillates between seating areas and anchors a cozy corner dedicated to games and reading. In the lounge, our distinctive "Blob Bench," accompanied by Pacha chairs and ottomans, encircles a low games table—A perfect environment designed to enhance the clients' board game experience.
Drawing inspiration from the husband's family home in Maine, we worked closely with a mural artist and the clients to incorporate artistic elements such as local wildlife, rocks, and trees, creating a serene and personalized space.
